Hendricks Symphony Brings Hollywood to Life with Music of the Silver Screen

Experience the power, drama, and nostalgia of Hollywood’s greatest moments as the Hendricks Symphony Orchestra and Chorus brings the magic of the silver screen to life. Step into a world of soaring themes, unforgettable melodies, and the iconic soundtracks that shaped generations of moviegoers. Audiences are invited to relive their favorite movie moments through a powerful program featuring iconic scores from some of the greatest films in history. From the adventurous melodies of Star Wars and Raiders of the Lost Ark to the sweeping romance of Gone with the Wind and Romeo and Juliet, this concert promises an evening of nostalgia and musical excellence.

 

The program will open with the commanding 20th Century Fox Fanfare by Elmer Bernstein (arr. Dr. Albert Lilly), setting the stage for a diverse repertoire that spans genres and decades.

 

Concert highlights include:

  • Epic Sagas: Star Wars, Suite for Orchestra and Raiders of the Lost Ark by the legendary John Williams, plus Sprach Zarathustra (from 2001: A Space Odyssey) by Richard Strauss.

  • Choral Masterpieces: Moving selections such as Agnus Dei (Adagio for Strings) from Platoon and Ecstasy of Gold from The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

  • Timeless Love Themes: My Own True Love (Tara's Theme) from Gone with the Wind and A Time for Us from Romeo and Juliet.

  • Operatic Favorites in Film: Giacomo Puccini’s Che gelida manina (featured in Moonstruck) and Ruggiero Leoncavallo’s Vesti la giubba (featured in The Untouchables).

  • Beloved Classics: Over the Rainbow from The Wizard of Oz, Moon River from Breakfast at Tiffany's, Gabriel's Oboe from The Mission, and the thrilling Ride of the Valkyries from Apocalypse Now.

This cinematic experience will take you on a beautiful journey on Valentine’s Day weekend! Performances are 7:30PM on Friday, February 13th and 3PM on Sunday, February 15th at Hendricks Live!

 

Tickets are available for $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and $10 for kids 17 and under and can be purchased at hendrickslive.org or hendrickssymphony.org.
